River cruise line Scenic Tours is ramping up its range of land excursions for 2015 – adding 35 new options for guests to choose from. These new land tours will range from intimate local encounters to optional rail journeys, offering guests a more immersive experience in port than ever before.
One new excursion, which has been dubbed ‘Shop with a Chef’, offers guests the opportunity to visit local produce markets in Vienna, Belgrade or Strasbourg with an expert guide and purchase fresh ingredients to be used in the on-board food preparation and served as part of their evening meal.
Elsewhere in Europe, Scenic Tours plans to take guests on a tour of the Zollverein Coal Mining Complex – a historic coal mining and industrial area from the 19th century which is now recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Other new excursions include a 40-minute train ride on the scenic Black Forest Railway and a journey by rail from Vienna to Bratislava, as well as an exhilarating cycling tour between the German town of Breisach and Colmar in France.
