As river cruising grows in popularity, so too grow the fleets for guests to step aboard. With ships continuing to set sail for the first time in 2019 and beyond, here is an updated list of the upcoming river cruise ships.
AmaMagna
One of AmaWaterways’ latest additions, AmaMagna joined the fleet in summer of 2019, officially welcomed by the cruise line in July with a christening ceremony courtesy of godmother, Samantha Brown.
As initially imagined by AmaWaterways co-owner and President, Rudi Schreiner, the ship is almost twice the width of traditional European river ships! AmaMagna is also home to two enticing new dining venues: Jimmy’s Wine Bar and the Al Fresco Restaurant. On-board, guests will also find more choices for leisure and dining, such as the Zen Wellness Studio, Sun Deck and innovative Water Sports Platform.
AmaMagna sails along the Danube, offering festive sailings and cultural sightseeings.
RV AmaMekong
2020 will also see RV AmaMekong join the APT fleet as the newest and most spacious ship for the cruise line in Vietnam and Cambodia. From October 2020, the ship will sail along the Mekong, offering a luxurious retreat to enjoy the everchanging landscapes of Southeast Asia.
Areas to look forward to enjoying on-board include the Spa & Wellness Centre, swimming pool and Alfresco Cafe. There’s also an exclusive restaurant, Indochine by Luke Nguyen, where guests can dine on a special five-course menu for an authentic taste of Vietnam.
With a large amount of space per guest, this luxurious vessel boats some of the largest entry-level suites on the Mekong and all-suite categories include a private balcony for your enjoyment.
RV AmaMekong will be sailing along the Mekong from October 2020.
Emerald Harmony
2019 also sees Emerald Waterways welcome Emerald Harmony in the later months. This ship has been specifically designed to sail along the Mekong, offering Asian-inspired venues and staterooms to guests to enjoy.
One of the highlights of the ship is that is can sail right into the centre of Ho Chi Minh City, docking in the heart of this fantastic city and allowing guests to explore it at ease. Each of the suites and staterooms on-board is chic in style, a modern sanctuary fusing authentic cultural influences with contemporary design.
As the newest Star-Ship for Emerald Waterways, Emerald Harmony boasts a sensory experience with food, scents and decor, as vibrant as the surrounding architecture along the river.
Emerald Harmony will be sailing along the Mekong from the later months of 2019.
MS Geoffrey Chaucer
Launched after research to create the perfect river cruise vessel, Riviera Travel is welcoming new state-of-the-art ‘all suite’ ships. One of these is MS Geoffrey Chaucer, joining the fleet in 2020.
The ship offers next-level luxury, with a restaurant which rivals the finest on-shore establishments. The suites exceed expectations for the ultimate space and comfort, with larger than normal suites due to the ship’s dimensions. Venues on-board include a Bistro with an open kitchen, large panoramic windows and alfresco seating. There’s also a Spa & Wellness area as well as a stunning restaurant on the Main Deck.
MS Geoffrey Chaucer will be sailing along rivers in Europe from 2020.
These are just a selection of the many river cruise ships joining the waterways of the world in the coming years. More are highlighted below.
