2014 will see the addition of two new river cruise ships for Tauck, which are set to join the line’s existing four-strong fleet in exploring the waterways of Europe.
Named Inspire and Savor, the new vessels will each boast 22 suites, making up a third of the cabin allocation on-board, while ships in the line’s existing fleet, such as ms Swiss Emerald and ms Swiss Sapphire, currently offer 14 suites.
At 443 feet long, the new ships are almost 25 per cent bigger than vessels in the rest of the fleet and the line clearly believes this puts them in a class of their own – the Inspiration Class to be exact. According to Tauck, this increase in size – and thus the number of suites – is in response to the popularity of suite bookings on the line’s existing Jewel Class vessels. The suites will all be located on the ships’ upper deck and will feature such facilities as French balconies with floor-to-ceiling windows, walk-in closet and marble bath.
In addition to the new suites, both ships will also feature 45 cabins, which along with all the suites will offer river cruisers a mini-bar, individual heating and an in-room movie service.
There will be a choice of two dining areas on the new vessels, including a main dining room and a more relaxed venue, which features a retractable wrap-around glass wall at the ships’ stern. Those wishing to relax at the end of the day can recline in the cocktail lounge, and those wishing to stay active can make use of the on-board spa and fitness centre.
