One of the top river cruise lines has announced a new range of excursions tailored to offer a more intimate experience in destinations, showing off experiences that are truly special and worth savouring.

AmaWaterways is the cruise line in question and it has named this new range ‘Limited Edition Tours’, which is nice and simple, but still gets over the point that these are not going to be your standard excursions that you could enjoy with other cruise lines.

The target audience for the Limited Edition Tours is people who already know a destination well, and want to see something a bit different. These won’t give you a tour across the city, so if you’ve never visited a destination before you might prefer one of the standard tours to acclimatise yourself, but really the option is yours.

A key thing to note is that the tours, just as with the standard excursions, are included in the price of your cruise, so you won’t need to pay anything extra to enjoy them. However spaces are limited, so if you find one of the Limited Edition Tours that takes your fancy you’ll need to book onto them as soon as possible to avoid potentially missing out.

Your tour could be based around the hidden treasures of a city, with a local guide talking you through the many secret locales. Or it could be sampling local delicacies, such as Viennese coffee and cakes, or Slovakian soups, in quaint cafes or relaxed restaurants.

Or it could be a guided visit to a local factory, seeing how regional industries work and the typical products that are created, or simply the history of a famous item or site.
