A bit of news from Ama Waterways today, as the cruise line has announced new river sailings in Myanmar for 2014. Both 10- and 14-night itineraries will be offered on the Ayeyarwady River, with sailings beginning in November. There are plans to offer these sailings until 2016 at least, as the new brochure has launched with planned sailings until then.
Kristin Karst, the Co-Owner of Ama Waterways and Executive Vice President for the cruise line, said “We have so many exciting developments in the works, especially our new program and new ship in Myanmar. My own experiences in Myanmar have been absolutely amazing. Our new cruises there will immerse our guests in a place that has long been shut off from the rest of the world, and that’s an opportunity no world traveller will want to pass up.”
She’s right, to be fair. Ama Waterways is taking a bit of a leap here but it’s one that I think is sure to pay off. River cruising is all about seeing new destinations and getting right to the heart of the action and that’s exactly what these new cruises, on-board one of the newest ships in the fleet, the Ama Pura, (the AmaSonata and AmaReina are also soon to join the other luxury vessels), will offer.
Ama Waterways Myanmar cruises
Guests will visit the ‘Garden City’ of Yangon, some of the thousands of temples in Bagan, the cultural hub of Mandalay and the incredible shrine that sits atop Mount Popa. Itineraries will also include Inwa, Amarapura, Sagaing and Mingun, some of the ancient royal cities with famous sights.
Pre- and post-cruise land extensions can be booked in Inle Lake, Yangon and Bangkok, so you’re able to tailor your river cruise package to suit your needs. That’s one of the typical great features of an Ama Waterways river cruise.
I’ve already written this week, pondering the future of river cruises. Already we have something new and exciting. I wonder what will be next…
